Student Success & First-Year Experience

Life at TU / Student Success & First-Year Experience

The Office of Student Success and First-Year Experience (FYE) assists incoming students with their transition to Tiffin University through programs, services, and resources designed to prepare and support them socially, personally and academically. Our goal is to coordinate first-year programming that significantly improves the college experience, enhances student satisfaction, and encourages engagement early in the collegiate career.

New Student Orientation is a one-day orientation session for students and their families to begin the transition to Tiffin University. Students will meet with a financial aid advisor, register for classes, meet other incoming students and upper-class leaders, and learn about career development opportunities and other student support services available at TU.

Welcome Weekend is a two-day event full of exciting activities for new students to help kick-off their college experience. It serves as an introduction to virtually everything TU has to offer. Welcome Weekend provides all new students a chance to make connections with faculty, staff and other students while being led by upper-class peer mentors.

Tiffin University embodies a student-centered, friendly, engaging campus culture. Convocation is a ceremony recognizing the significance of the beginning of the new academic journey with our new Dragon Family. Students are to engage in the learning opportunities that lay before them.

All new students are assigned a Student Success Advisor (SSA) who provides focused attention on the success of students by providing quality and personalized academic planning and mentoring throughout their first year. The SSA serves as a main point of contact for all questions, concerns, and connections while promoting student motivation and holistic campus engagement. All new students meet with their SSA during their first year on campus to explore their academic and personal goals.
